Volunteer
Opportunities with PFLAG Phoenix
Living
is the art of loving. Loving is the art of caring. Caring is the art of sharing. Sharing is the art of
living. If you want to lift yourself up, lift up someone else.

Why Volunteer
with PFLAG Phoenix?
As with all non-profit
organizations, people who volunteer do come and
go, and we never seem to have enough
volunteers to do everything we'd like to do.
Therefore, there's always room for more!
Besides the personal fulfillment
that often comes from getting involved in
such a wonderful organization like PFLAG,
volunteering is also a great way to meet new
fun,
friendly, and like-minded people.
It's also a great way to sharpen your skills
(or to
develop new ones!) that can help you in
your current career, possibly in a new career,
and with life in general. But, of course,
the most fulfilling
aspect of volunteering is witnessing
first-hand the lives you will leave an
imprint on through your involvement with PFLAG! |

Before You
Contact Us, PLEASE READ THIS:
We have
NO paid
employee positions. Please
DON'T send us your resume -- we
don't need to see your resume.
For
many (not
all) volunteer roles, we
need to get to
know you first -- if you can't commit to
attending some of our
local support meetings and/or our
bi-monthly
Board of Directors meeting where we
can get to know you, then we may not be
able to use you as a volunteer.
There are some exceptions to this
-- namely those volunteer roles that
don't require direct interaction with
PFLAG attendees or with the public as a
representative of PFLAG Phoenix.

SIMPLE WAYS
TO VOLUNTEER:
There are MANY ways to get involved with
us -- some which are INCREDIBLY SIMPLE, but TREMENDOUSLY HELPFUL to us:

#1:
Just
SHOW UP!
Seriously!
PFLAG works so well simply because
ordinary people like you show up and share
their stories and their experiences. Just
having people do that is tremendously helpful to us. You don't have to have some tragic,
heart-wrenching personal story to share -- you might
be a straight ally who simply wants to see an
end to GLBT discrimination, or a parent of a GLBT
person who never had any issue with having a
GLBT child, or a GLBT person who had no
issues 'coming out' as GLBT. As you attend
PFLAG more regularly, you'll pick up on other areas
where we could use help. |

Teamwork
allows common people to attain uncommon results.
Some people
want it to happen, some wish it to happen, others make it
happen.
Volunteers
aren't paid, not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless.

At Our
Bi-Monthly Board of Director Meetings: |

Time Commit- ment |
| Don't
let the moniker "Board of Directors" scare you away
-- we're really a small, friendly, fairly informal group of dedicated volunteers
who meet every other month on a Saturday
morning (usually) to share information (sometimes
from PFLAG National, sometimes from other community
organizations, or elsewhere), plan projects and
events, make spending or fundraising decisions, and
generally take care of other items as they pop up.
This is a GREAT PLACE to learn about
all that we are involved with, to meet other
WONDERFUL people, and to become a PFLAG "insider" (i.e., those "in the know").
Come and listen, and share your ideas too -- we
welcome everyone's participation!

Not necessary |
2 to 3 hours every other month
(that's only 12 to 18 hours per year!) |
See HOW SIMPLE it is to help? Yet,
it means SO MUCH to those of us already doing these tasks
at each meeting!
