Note:  The risk of HIV and AIDS often comes to mind when someone announces that they are gay.  HIV and AIDS are not “gay” diseases.  They should be a concern to all people, not only to gay and lesbian individuals.  However, there are many other health concerns including other sexually transmitted diseases, lesbian health issues, etc., that you may want information on.  Since the field of medicine is progressing so rapidly these days, we purposely have not included any books in the list below which would most likely become outdated within a year or two.  For specific health concerns, please consult your physician or check a bookstore and/or the Internet for the latest information available.
