THE
BOOTS & RAY REED SCHOLARSHIP:
|
 |
Scholarship Details:
This
scholarship is a single
$1,000 scholarship --
one individual will be
awarded..
Background:
This
scholarship is named in
honor of Boots and Ray
Reed who are long-time
volunteers (and past chapter
presidents) with PFLAG
Phoenix. This dynamic,
engaging, and absolutely
lovable couple were among
the first to start a PFLAG
chapter in Phoenix in the
late ‘70s. Over the many
years since, they have
continued giving of their
time, invaluable friendship
and determined spirit to all
who have come after them.
It is because of their vast
contributions to PFLAG
Phoenix and the hundreds of
families they have assisted
over the years that we
respectfully, and with
tremendous admiration and
love, name this PFLAG
Phoenix scholarship in their
honor. |
THE
DOWERS FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP(S):
|
 |
Scholarship Details:
This
scholarship may be a single
$1,500 scholarship, two
individual $750 scholarships,
or three $500 scholarships
(to be determined by the
Dowers family).
Background:
This
scholarship is named in
honor of the Dowers
family. Dee Dowers,
a native of England, has
lived in the United States
for almost 30 years, and in
Arizona since 1993. She
retired from the financial
business world in 2000 and
became a full-time student
at ASU, achieving a BA in
History. Dee enjoys movies,
the theatre, murder
mysteries, and travel. She
“discovered” PFLAG several
years ago and is anxious to
support the growing
acceptance of GLBT youth. |
