encouraged to apply for the following 2013 scholarships offered
through PFLAG Phoenix. All
scholarships are open to gay, lesbian,
bisexual, and transgender (GLBT)
individuals and to straight allies who
have directly supported GLBT youth
and/or the GLBT community. To

BOOTS & RAY REED MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP:
scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship

engaging, and absolutely
lovable couple was among the
first to start a PFLAG
chapter in Phoenix in the
late ‘70s. Over the
many years since, they had
continued giving of their
time, invaluable friendship
and determined spirit to all
who come after them.
It is because of their vast
contributions to PFLAG
Phoenix and the hundreds of
families they had assisted
over the years that we
respectfully, and with
tremendous admiration and
love, name this PFLAG
Phoenix scholarship in their
NEW FOR 2013
THE PFLAG PHOENIX LEGACY SCHOLARSHIP
This newly established scholarship will vary by year, depending on donations. For 2013, the amount is $750, awarded to one candidate.
This scholarship is funded by donations in memory of, or in honor of, individuals that have made a difference in the Phoenix-area GLBT community. They volunteered their time with PFLAG Phoenix and changed lives with their words and actions. By awarding this scholarship to a worthy candidate, we are passing on their legacy to a new generation of GLBT advocates.
This year’s scholarship is funded by donations in memory of Dean Jensen and Mary Lou Hagen.

for Fall'11, have a minimum 2.5 GPA,

Maricopa Community Colleges
Out and Up Scholarship Fund
The Maricopa Community Colleges
Foundation is establishing the OUT
and UP Scholarship Fund – an
opportunity for disenfranchised
lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender
and queer/questioning (LGBTQ) youth.
Those eligible are young adults
(under 25) who have faced negative
responses from caregivers because of
their sexual orientation or gender
identity/expression and are no
longer welcome or living at home.
Paradise Valley Community College (PVCC)
PVCC LGBTQA Community Service
In honor of Dale Heuser's service
to PVCC and the Maricopa Community
College District, the PVCC LGBTQA
Community Service Scholarship is
available to PVCC students who have
a record of active service and
involvement in the LGBTQ community
activism and/or charity work.
The PVCC Rainbow Scholarship has
been established to assists students
that have demonstrated a record of
involvement and support of the LGBT
community and LGBT issues.
Phoenix Pride Scholarship Program
The Pride Scholarship Program was
established to provide scholarships
for students who identify as
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual or
Transgender, live in the
metropolitan Phoenix area, and have
been accepted or are currently
enrolled in a local undergraduate
