Resources for Transgender,
Transsexual & Cross-Dressing Individuals |
Quote from a female-to-male transsexual
"I mistakenly came out to my mother as a lesbian in 1973;
she told me that I had an over-active imagination and watched too
much television.
When I came out to her as a transsexual 22 years later, she said:
'Are you sure you wouldn't rather go back to being just a lesbian?'"

The following information and resources was
provided to us by one of our local PFLAGers, Daria. We
truly appreciate this enlightening and informative information!
Here are a few resources for
comprehending transsexualism. Transsexualism has been
around since womankind has. The significant difference
today is that now those who suffer from Gender Identity
Disorder have the medical means to more truly live as the
gender they believe themselves to be. Most of the books
on the subject tend to fall into two categories, cold clinical
books or sensationalistic freakish treatments.
Transsexualism, transvestism, cross-dressing, she-males, etc.,
are often lumped together but are in reality very different
and should be treated separately.
Just as the achievements of other
minority groups have been negated so have those of
transsexuals. Transsexuals are as varied as the general
population. Some have high achievements and scientists,
lawyers, doctors. Here are the links to the website’s
of a few -- there are many others.
