On this page, we post links to articles, commentaries, video clips, etc.
that we feel are of interest to our PFLAG Phoenix members and
supporters from a variety of local and national mainstream and
GLBT news sources and websites.
HRC has made it very easy to thank editor Jon Meacham for the story. Take a few minutes to send him an email. The fundies sure have, and their voices have definitely been heard. Now it's our turn.
Since the election on Nov. 4th,
there has been a lot of anger,
frustration, finger-pointing,
and more regarding how the four
anti-gay ballot measures in
Arizona, California, Florida,
and Arkansas passed. The
following is a collection of
articles, videos, and audio
segments that may shed some
light and help those struggling
to reconcile their feelings over
what has happened.
10/08/08: LA Times:
Gay is a choice? Not that again. Palin's view
ignores the fact that, as in religion, the attraction is
undeniable. And heeding such calls is the essence of
freedom.
Note: We
include many news stories on our website from
365gay.com. Unfortunately (for us), they've
just relaunched a new version of their website which has
made many of our links below inoperable. We are
aware of this issue and will work to replace the
inoperable links as soon as possible.
07/28/08: Video
of Legislative "Dirty Tricks" Released.
(To watch the video of the floor session in question (from June
27th), with commentary from George K. Staropoli of Citizens for
Constitutional Local Government,

Bad Boys, Bad Boys, Whatcha Gonna Do . . . ? (Our heartfelt 'one-fingered salute' to those
who've condemned and worked against the GLBT community.
Party on, boys!)
When
I first learned of this true
story, I have to admit that I
was somewhat shocked,
bewildered, and a little
fearful. After all, it's
not every day that a pregnant
man comes along. In fact,
as far as I know, this is the
first time. Upon learning
that the pregnant man is a
transgender individual, I
immediately feared the possible
backlash that might erupt once
this story gained traction in
the tabloid (and possibly in the
mainstream) media. So,
before posting a link to The
Advocate's story on our website, I
shared it internally with our
PFLAG Phoenix Board of Directors
to solicit their reactions and
advice. There were a
handful of mixed responses, but
when I received
chapter president Dave Pape's
response, I knew I had my
answer. In fact, his
response was so PERFECT, I knew
I had to
share it with all of you.
Thanks, Dave, for setting me
straight (well, like THAT's
likely...) on this family's
story and our duty to support
them as any other GLBT family.
