From The Advocate:
04/08/08:  From The Advocate:  "Labor of Love:  Is society ready for this pregnant husband?"

04/04/08:  Video:  Pregnant man stuns Oprah audience

From the PFLAG Phoenix webmaster:

Labor of Love When I first learned of this true story, I have to admit that I was somewhat shocked, bewildered, and a little fearful.  After all, it's not every day that a pregnant man comes along.  In fact, as far as we know, this is the first time.  Upon learning that the pregnant man is a transgender individual, I immediately feared the possible backlash that might erupt once this story gained traction in the tabloid (and possibly in the mainstream) media.  So, before posting a link to The Advocate story on our website, I shared it internally with our PFLAG Phoenix Steering Committee to solicit their reactions and advice.  There were a handful of mixed responses, but when I received chapter president Dave Pape's response, I knew I had my answer.  In fact, his response was so PERFECT, I knew I had to share it with all of you.  Thanks, Dave, for setting me straight (well, like THAT's likely...) on this family's story and our duty to support them as any other GLBT family.

Mike :-)

04/25/08:  ABC's 20/20 Asks "What Would You Do:  Public Displays of Affection -- by Gay/Lesbian Couples?"

Is Main Street USA Ready for Gay PDA?
An ABC News Social Experiments Gauges Bystander Reactions to Two Affectionate Gay Couples

Two years ago, ABC News hired two actors, a man and a woman, to publicly display their affection for each other by kissing in public at a restaurant. Reactions from other restaurant-goers varied; some onlookers enjoyed the sight of young love, while others lost their appetite.

This year, we once again decided to explore how the public responds to public displays of affection -- but this time, our couples were gay.

ABC News asked two couples, Kaolin and James, and Ashby and Leslie, to sit on park benches in Verona, N.J., and then in Birmingham, Ala., to see if there were any differences in reaction among passersby in the two regions of the country.
