For
GLBT Parents & Families . . .
|
Amazon.Mom |
Amazon.Mom is a group of families from all over
the Valley. There are currently 50+ families in the Amazon.Mom database, and
there is a Yahoo group which can be reached via email at Amazondotmoms@yahoogroups.com
In order to join the Yahoo group, you must first request to join (via email to
the above email address) and then be invited. by the Yahoo group
facilitator. These steps are necessary to protect the integrity and
security of the Yahoo group. The Yahoo group is most convenient for it's
calendar function which keeps members up to date on social events and kids
birthdays etc. We generally have at least one social event per month.
Additional information for those GLBT couples
interested in starting their own families: "Our children
came to us in a huge variety of ways: home inseminations, Dr assisted
inseminations, invitro fertilization, known donors, unknown donors, adoption -
local and international, and even via women who were formerly married to
men and share custody after a divorce. We have single moms as well as couples.
To say we are a diverse bunch is the ultimate understatement. But that is what
makes us interesting and especially valuable as a community resource group.
Name a topic and there will be someone in our group I could refer you to for
information. This summer three of our families were featured in three
different newspaper articles as op/ed pieces in response to the
gentlemen suing the state for a marriage license. To sum us up we are average
families, living average lives. Just that tiny little difference about the
general availability of marital benefits." For
