PFLAG Phoenix - May
Press Release
Who:
Equality Arizona
What:
Speaking at a
PFLAG Paradise Valley Support Meeting
When:
Monday, May 19th, 7-9 p.m.
Where:
Palo Cristi Presbyterian Church, 3535 East Lincoln Drive,
Paradise Valley, AZ
Why:
From helping acknowledge the importance of domestic
partnership benefits for Arizona State employees to combating
the Marriage Amendment which is now on its third go-around,
Equality Arizona believes that political advocacy is the most
effective way to influence the legislative process and public
policy.
What Is Equality Arizona all about?
Equality Arizona connects us to
our peer statewide LGBT advocacy organizations across the
country while more clearly defining the scope of the work in
Arizona. Equality Arizona recognizes the value of progressive
partners as we all march on the path toward equality.
The mission of Equality Arizona is to secure,
protect and defend the rights and welfare of lesbian, gay,
bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people in Arizona.
Equality
Arizona utilizes a number of strategies such as lobbying;
sponsoring bills and opposing negative legislation; building
coalitions; and empowering other organizations and individuals
to engage in the political process. The Equality Arizona PAC
endorses candidates and supports their campaigns through
donations and volunteer muscle.
Equality Arizona will be
speaking at 7 PM, May 19th at the Palo Cristi Presbyterian
Church, 3535 East Lincoln Drive,
Paradise Valley.
Please join us to hear what opposition and
opportunities our families have to help Equality Arizona
continue the battle for true equal protection under the law.
