ALERT for
our Paper Newsletter Subscribers |
R.S.V.P.: Postcard Project
As our Co-President, Dave Pape, noted in last month’s “From the
President” column, over four hundred newsletters take to the
mail ten months out of the year. This is expensive. Our
advertisers (for whom we are ever-thankful!) and their revenue
offset a portion of these costs. Our website provides similar
information, in a timely manner.
Because PFLAG Phoenix membership numbers are significantly
lower than the "please send me a newsletter" numbers, and
because the cost of printing and mailing the paper newsletters
are significant, and because our website provides current and
cost-effective - and colorful - communications that include
animated graphics, we are curious.
Is there a need to continue publishing the newsletter after our
current cycle concludes in June/July?
Do those of you who receive the paper newsletter want to
continue receiving it by mail?
We’re asking the question:
Do you want to continue receiving a paper newsletter?
Coupled with that we wonder:
Should we keep publishing?
Open the March newsletter
carefully, watching for a postage-paid postcard to fall
out. The pre-addressed, stamped postcard contains a simple
statement , and makes it easy to answer the above question:
I do/do not wish to continue receiving a paper copy of
the newsletter.
Please make the appropriate
selection, and drop the postcard in the mail.
As
our list of paper newsletter subscribers has ballooned over the
years, we suspect that some are no longer opening and reading
our monthly mailing. By requiring the enclosed postage-paid
postcard to be returned to us, we'll be able to identify those
who aren't opening and reading our newsletter any longer.
If
you don't return the postcard, we'll assume that your answer is
"No", and we'll remove you from our paper newsletter mailing
list. If the total number of returned postcards is very low, we
may consider discontinuing our paper newsletter altogether at
the end of summer 2008 (in favor of utilizing our website and
email communications to keep our membership informed in a timely
manner).
For
those of you currently receiving our paper newsletter who would
like to help us reduce costs, and save trees and gas, we invite
you to enjoy the electronic (i.e., emailed) version of our
newsletter (which, by the way, is in color and can be saved,
printed, forwarded on/from your computer). If you're already on
our chapter email list, you already receive it each month. If
you'd like to join our chapter email list, simply visit
www.pflagphoenix.org
and click on the red "Join our PFLAG Phoenix email list" link.
Thank you, in advance, for your reply!!
